The Friends of Marymount

Our busy Calendar of events is organised and supported by an amazing group of volunteers called The Friends of Marymount.

The Friends of Marymount, known as “The Friends” are a voluntary group founded in 1980, who raise funds to enhance the hospital and hospice, and to benefit the patients. They organise fundraising events themselves and co-ordinate the fundraising events of others in aid of the hospital and hospice. They meet in the hospital on the second Monday of each month at 7.30p.m.

The Friends have organised a wide variety of events over the years, such as concerts, race nights, open gardens and art exhibitions, but their major annual events are Sunflower Day and Coffee Morning both coordinated nationally by the Irish Hospice Foundation as well as Light up a Light.

Apart from their ongoing support of the hospital & hospice The Friends contributed in excess of €23 million towards the €56 million cost of the new facility at Curraheen. The hospital and The Friends will forever be indebted to their many loyal supporters for making that project possible.
