Services & Facilities
Bringing in Food
Each room has a fridge and visitors are welcome to bring in suitable snacks and/or drinks for patients.
These areas are open to you and your visitors. There is easy access for wheelchairs so you can enjoy them, please ask a member of staff to assist you. As there are a number of water features in the gardens children must be supervised at all times.
During your stay with us, you may wish to visit home for a few hours or overnight, please speak to one of the team to help organise this for you.
There is Newsagent located on the ground floor opposite the reception desk, which stocks a variety of drinks, snacks and toiletries. It is open from 8am-8pm, seven days a week.
Unfortunately, we cannot launder clothes except in special circumstances, so please make arrangements with family or friends to do this for you.
Meals for Patients
Breakfast is served from 8.45am
Lunch is served at 1pm
Evening meal is served from 5pm
Food and drink are also available on request outside of these times.
For the general public, the building is a “no smoking” area. Patients are permitted to smoke within the designated smoking areas on Marymount ward.
Any special dietary requirements can be catered for. Please ask a member of staff.
St. Luke’s Day Care Unit
St Luke’s Day Care Unit offers a range of services which aim to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Your relatives and friends are welcome to ring the ward at any time. Each bed has a telephone and can receive calls directly. Credit for outgoing calls from resident/patient room phones may be purchased at reception (card deposit fees apply).
We would ask that if possible phone calls to the ward area be avoided between 7.45- 8.30 am and 8.00-8.30 pm.
Confidentiality regarding your care will be maintained by all members of staff. Enquiries about your well being are welcomed from those relatives that you are happy for us to speak to.
You are welcome to use a mobile phone but we ask that they be used discreetly on the ward. You are requested to be mindful of ringtones and conversations in areas of shared accommodation.
Television & Internet
Each bed has its own entertainment system which includes the following: radio & tv channels, skype and internet access. There is also a television available for you and your visitors in the day room. Free wi-fi access is also available throughout the hospital. Please contact main reception to obtain the relevant password.
You will need to bring toiletries in with you such as;
- Toothbrush & toothpaste
- Shaving Foam/gel
- Change of nightwear
- Comfortable daywear
- Slippers or soft shoes (as appropriate)
If we have arranged an appointment for you to go to hospital and a family member or friend cannot take you, then one of our drivers can transport you. For routine hospital appointments or on discharge from the wards it is helpful if you can arrange for a relative or friend to pick you up or hire a taxi. If this is not possible, please speak to one of the nurses who will be able to advise you.
You are very welcome to bring in small personal items such as photographs and mementoes to make you feel at home. It is advisable that only small amounts of cash are brought in for the purchase of daily newspapers etc. Each room has a lockable press. Patients are advised that Marymount cannot be held responsible for the security of property and cash brought in during your stay.
Ward Day Room
There is a sitting room with a balcony which is available at any time to all visitors and families of patients on the ward.
The nearest shops are in Bishopstown (5 minutes North by car) or Dunnes Stores (5 minutes East by car on the dual carriageway). Additionally, Ballincollig has a variety of shops and restaurants.
