Thank you so much to everyone who supported our Virtual Sunflower Day campaign this year in the month of June.
Our Sunflower Days street collections in Cork City and county towns is our biggest street collection fundraising campaign of the year. As with so many other worthy campaigns, we had to cancel the two collection due to take place in June due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
Instead we created a virtual sunflower garden which people could support by dedicating a sunflower to a loved one and ‘planting it’ on our virtual grounds which can be found: https://garden.marymount.ie.
Thank you so much to all of you who supported this campaign. I’m delighted to let you know that thanks to your support we raised more than €20,000 from this initiative. While traditionally Sunflower Days raise between €70,000 and €100,000 meaning we only raised approximately 20% of what we would normally generate, we are also mindful that we are not in normal circumstances, there are a lot of different pressures on people right now and we are grateful to have received the support we did.
We will be closing our page to donations at the end of this week. However we will keep the online garden and dedications alive and visible for you to revisit for reflection.
A sincere thank you to you all for your support.
